  • The second program is the Wee Friends Christmas Program. It will be presented on Tuesday, December 15th at 7:00 p.m. This program is led by our childcare director, Bea Jewell. There will be about 30 children taking part in this program. Refreshments will be served afterwards in the fellowship room.

The Hendricks County 4-H Fair is quickly approaching. The dates for this year are: JULY 7-24. We are planning to park cars on our church property again this year. The monies collected will be ear-marked for use by the Trutees for maintenance of the building and grounds.

 

Volunteers are needed again this year to help with this fundraising effort. There is a sign-up sheet at the church. The schedule is divided into shifts. Volunteers are paid $7.00 per hour. You will be required to sign in and sign out each day that you work.

The Christian Education Committee has set the dates for our summer VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL. The dates are June 21st - 25th. The sessions will begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 11:30 a.m. each morning.

Children age 4 through the 5th grade are invited to register. Pre-registration forms will be made available to the parents of our daycare prior to the start. Also, registrations forms will be available in the church foyer for those who wish to register early.

The children will be learning about science and how it relates to our everyday lives. The Bible lessons will tie into the science lessons to demonstrate how God fits into it all. Along with the Bible lessons, there will be skits, music, crafts, snacks, and games.

Rebecca Bowman is serving as the Director again this year. Volunteers are needed to help in various ways. If you would like to help with V.B.S., please contact Rebecca at 796-8225 or call the church office at 745-5348.

The church garage sale is Saturday, May 1st from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. we will be serving a light, nutritious lunch beginning at 11 a.m. for a cost of $2.00/meal. You can begin to bring your priced, donated items to the church fellowship room on Sundy, April 18th. Remember, no adult clothing. Please place those items neatly in the northwest corner of the room. The proceeds from the garage sale will go to the church general fund.

We will be setting up on Friday, April 30th, beginning at 4 p.m. We need help to set everything up at that time. There will be a sign up sheet beginning Sunday, April 18th. We need workers and donations for the lunch. This is a church wide effort to raise operational funds. Everyone can help and fellowship with the community during this time.

We will gather at the picnic shelter at the back of our campus. There will be hot dogs and drinks for everyone, including parents and siblings.

This will be an opportunity for parents to register their children and meet the staff for this year. The cost per child is $10.00.

We will be using the same format as last year. There will be an opening with music and skit and memory verse with everyone all together. Then we will divide into groups for crafts, snacks, and games.

The regular meetings will meet every Wednesday from 6:30 - 7:45 p.m. each week. The fall session will conclude on November 21st.

Danvillle Friends are making plans for a day of celebration to mark the complete payment of our indebtedness on our facilities.

During our 10:30 worship service we will have special music by the choir. There will also be a power point presentation with pictures of people and activities since moving to this location. The service will conclude with the symbolic shredding of the mortgage.

After the worship service we will have a furnished lunch in the fellowship room. No reservations required.

The afternoon events include a rededication service for our facilities and an home-made ice cream social which is to be held at the picnic shelter.

F.U.M. Chain of Prayer

Our church will participate in the chain of prayer again this year. Our assigned day to pray is February 21st. We will begin with a full breakfast at 9:00 a.m. Please sign-up for the breakfast so we will know how many people to prepare for. The sign-up sheet is on the table in the church foyer.

Following breakfast (about 9:00 a.m.) we will assemble in the worship room for a time of intercessory prayer for our church, Western Yearly Meeting, and Friends United Meeting.

ALL members of the church are encouraged to participate.

Children's Christmas Program - 9:30 a.m.
      Our children and youth will present a program of Christmas readings and music. Following the program, there will be holiday refreshments in the fellowship room.

Christmas Caroling to Shut-ins - 4:00 p.m.
      We will meet at the church and plan to leave around 4 p.m. to go caroling. Afterward, we will return to the church for food and fellowship. Everyone is invited to come and participate.


December 24-
     
Christmas Eve Candlelight Service - 7:00 p.m.
      Come and join us for our family focused candlelight service. There will be Christmas readings, carols, special music, and lighting of candles.

2008-2009 PIONEER CLUB to Start


Pioneer Club at Danville Friends Church will be kicked off again on Wednesday, September 3rd. Please bring your children at 6:30 p.m. to register them for the year. Parents need to fill out the registration form and sign it. There will be a $10.00 fee again this year. The registration will take place at the picnic shelter at the back of the church campus.

There will also be hot dogs, chips, macaroni & cheese, s'mores and drinks for everyone (incuding parents), along with other activities for the children. We will conclude at 7:45 p.m.

Pioneer Club is a midweek Bible Club for children age 4 through the 6th grade. The program includes music, Bible lessons, snacks, crafts, games, and special projects. The program encourages children to learn about God; it helps them to develop Christian values; it also helps them to build strong relationships and have fun with friends.

This year our teachers are Mike & Judy Thornburg, Rebecca Bowman, and Mark Scott. Assisting the teachers will be Lexi Conner and Eric Spurling. Janet Cunningham will be our church van driver again this year. Van transportation is available for those who need it. Please call the church office at 745-5348 to arrange for transportation.

BE PART OF THE TEAM!

We are looking for able-bodied volunteers to serve your church as parking lot attendants again this year during the Hendricks County 4-H Fair.

This has been a very successful fundraiser for the last two years. We have been able to net several thousand dollars which the Trustees have been able to use to fund major projects to improve our building and grounds.

  • We will be parking cars each day of the fair from 12 P.M. until 10:00 P.M.
  • The admission charge is $3.00 per car.
  • The work schedule is divided into 3 hour shifts.
  • Safety vests, flashlights, flags, and walkie-talkies will be provided.
  • All parking attendants will be pais $7.00 per hour. You will be paid after the fair's end. If you want to donate your money back to the church, sign your check and give it back. You will then be given a receipt for the amount of your donation.
     
Sign up sheets are available at the church. Please sign up early for the times you are able to work- or you can call the church office at 745-5348 during the day or Bill Jackson at 745-4812 in the evening.
